Guy W. Thomas is an artist’s artist, with his intricate original Pen and Ink drawings, cartoon characters and various reproductions spanning a wide gamut of subject matter. From the stately Victorian homes, the isolated old wagon, to the inquisitive lion and even including a turkey play golf, Mr. Thomas brings real life to all of his project. Having mastered the unforgiving medium of Pen and Ink, he devotes 40 to 60 hours of intense concentration, applying layer upon layer to each piece produced in this intricate and painfully slow artistic discipline. The richness and depth of this is fully evident from the shadowing effects he accomplishes by achieving this subtle layered influence on each hand mastered piece.Mr. Thomas’s art career began in high school with scholarships awards granted to him in the mediums of sculpture, oil painting, water color and cartooning; demonstrating his early gift and versatility in the field. Upon graduation high school and entering college, he was drafted into our nation’s service. Where the U.S. Army made use of his talents as a calibration technician and the last sex months in country in Vietnam as a combat artist. While working in that capacity, with a variety of military personnel in the Mekong Delta region, much of his work was placed in the U.S. Army Archives in Washington, D.C
For the last thirty plus years, Guy W. Thomas has worked as an award winning graphic designer and art director for a number of advertising and promotional agencies, as well as owning and operating his own advertising concern. Upon being accepted as a contributor to the 1989 Laguna Art-A-Fair Festival, in Laguna Beach California he subsequently mixed his professional efforts between computer graphic design, original graphic design and fine art endeavors.
